Gun Collection
My dad started teaching me to hunt when I was 7. During my high school and college years I frequently hunted small game - squirrels, quail, dove and occasionally duck. Whatever was killed on a hunt was eaten.
In school we had the Rod and Gun club. We were never discouraged from bringing guns to school. If we were going hunting after school, it was completely normal to store you gun in your locker during the day. On days when the Rod and Gun club met, we brought guns for a kind of teenage show and tell.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) worked closely with the Boy Scouts to insure firearm and hunting safety was taught to all who showed any interest and hunting or shooot.
Most boys eagerly anticipated the day they could save enough to buy their very own rifle or shotgun, sometimes even a pistol. Fathers tended to bestow their treasured guns on their sons, rather than letting them go out of the family.
When it comes to guns, I'm very serious about safety. As far as personal or famiy defense is concerned, I try to keep myself mentally prepared and I practice often. When it comes to just looking at, handling, cleaning or shooting guns, I'm still a boy at heart. A safety-conscious, well-trained boy.
