Building a Rock Garden

Christmas 2007 and for my birthday 2008, the grandchildren made concrete stepping stones for my presents. Each stone has the creator's footprints and handprints, plus colorful decorations.

I wasn't sure how to display these stones. They're too precious to actually walk on. We had a fountain on the east side of the house that wasn't being utilized properly because it's too far from a convenient water supply. I decided to move the fountain outside my office door which is right beside the most frequently used entrance to the house.

I enlisted the grandkids' help in laying out the stones and distributing pea gravel around them to make a nice rock garden with fountain just outside our office window. These pictures record the event which took place on March 17, 2008.
