Building a Rock Garden

This past year, some for Christmas and some for my birthday, the grandchildren made concrete stepping stones for my presents. Each stone has the creator's footprints and handprints, plus colorful decorations.

I wasn't sure how to display these stones. They're too precious to actually walk on. We had a fountain on the east side of the house that wasn't being utilized properly because it's too far from a convenient water supply. I decided to move the fountain outside my office door which is right beside the most frequently used entrance to the house.

I enlisted the grandkids' help in laying out the stones and distributing pea gravel around them to make a nice rock garden with fountain just outside our office window. These pictures record the event which took place on March 17, 2008.
