Wild Turkeys

When I was growing up in Mississippi, wild turkeys were illusive. Lately, we have actually been seeing quite a few around our neighborhood just north of Fort Worth. One Spring morning in 2005 we awoke to find a couple of Tom Turkeys in a territory squabble over our yard. By nightfall, one of them had moved to a neighbor's yard. They stayed around for a week or two, until discovering no hens would join them, then moved on. Ours flew up into a tree once when being chased by our dog and another time when being chased by our grandchildren.
